Replacing a Door
Installing a door needs a person with the experience to select the right door for the frame and use and the matching door seal and hardware.
A new door was to be installed for a tenant. Instead of calling a contractor to install the door, it was decided to have our maintenance tech do the work.
Not being a qualified carpenter or trade the maintenance technician they did not know what hardware was needed, or how to install the door properly. This technician took two days to install a door that should of taken 4-5 hrs.
After he completed the work I got a call from the tenant herself saying the door was not installed properly. Upon further investigation the door did not shut properly, the weather stripping was incorrect along with the hardware.
To resolve the issue we called in a qualified contractor to quickly repair the work to help offset having the upset tenant frustrated for paying for a faulty door.
Where we would have saved stress time and money…
- Hire a competent contractor to do the work.
- Understand your capabilities, plan the work to understanding the job, identify what you know for sure what you do know know and what you are making up.
